The iPeer2Peer (iP2P) program is an established online peer support program that matches patients one-to-one with other patients who have a similar chronic health condition, who are trained to provide peer support and mentorship.

A pilot feasibility waitlist randomized controlled trial design will be employed across five sites, with data collected using standardized instruments and interviews.

We will recruit 60 young adult mentees who will be randomized into the iP2P or control group and 20 adult mentors. Mentees in the intervention group will be matched one-to-one with trained mentors and mentor-mentee pairings will connect over 12 weeks through calls and text messaging to provide peer support.

This research will increase our understanding of one-to-one peer support and leverage Health technologies to improve access to and acceptability of peer support interventions.

Experience required

Young adults who have experience living with any past or present heart failure or have undergone a heart transplant.

Potential roles for PFD Partners

Their roles will include helping with recruitment strategies, providing valuable context when interpreting results and helping translate findings into knowledge dissemination initiatives.

Reimbursement

$50/hr
