Reclaim Series is a storytelling initiative led by Black Donors Save Lives. The series highlights the lived experiences of Black patients and families impacted by donation and transplantation including blood, stem cells, organs, and tissues. By centering Black voices, the project aims to advance health equity, strengthen trust, and inspire systemic change in Canada’s transplant and donation systems. We are seeking Black patients from the CDTRP community who have experienced transplantation, living or deceased donation, or long-term blood transfusion to share their stories. Participants will receive an honorarium in recognition of their time and contribution. These stories will be shared through multimedia formats (video, written, digital) to educate the public, healthcare professionals, and policymakers about the unique challenges and strengths within Black communities.
Expérience requise
We are seeking Black patients with lived experience of transplantation or donation, specifically those who have received a kidney or stem cell transplant, donated to a loved one, or undergone long-term blood transfusions. Their experience navigating the transplant or donation system, including the medical, emotional, and cultural dimensions, is essential to the Reclaim Series. We welcome individuals who can speak openly about their journey, including barriers and successes, in order to inform systemic change and strengthen trust within Black communities
Rôles potentiels pour les partenaires PFD
Participants will take part in a storytelling session (approx. 1–2 hours), where they will be interviewed and supported in shaping their narrative for the Reclaim Series. Their stories may be shared in video, written, or digital formats. We anticipate 3–5 partners for this phase, each committing to a single session with an optional follow-up for reviewing drafts before publication.
