Canadian organ and tissue donation coordinators working within deceased donation programmes. Participants were recruited for the survey and qualitative interviews. Recruitment and data collection took place between January 2022 and March 2023. Of the 175 available coordinators, 120 participated in the survey, and 39 participated in the qualitative interviews. The great majority were female (81.7%), registered nurses (97.5%), and on average 42 years old.

The study highlights the need for ongoing support and resources to ensure the well-being of healthcare professionals in this critical role, especially during emergencies such as a global pandemic.

Findings underscore the need for further investigation and intervention to promote healthier coping mechanisms among individuals in the workplace through interventional studies and the development of best practices to support work transitions in emergency situations.

These findings emphasise the importance of developing adaptive strategies and resilience building in navigating the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery during times of crisis.
